While this may be the largest recent deal, it certainly won’t be the last. As the industry continues to expand, companies across the cannabis landscape will be looking to find strength in numbers.  

“In cannabis, the industry moves so fast that there’s a fear that if you don’t get big enough fast enough, you’ll be left behind,” says Matt Maurer, partner at Torkin Manes LLP and co-chair of the firm’s cannabis law group.

Just because companies are for sale or are willing to merge, doesn’t mean consolidation will translate into instant success. Here’s what you need to know about M&A activity.
